Family Day at Beavers Bend!

Start off with the Beavers Bend Wildlife Museum where they have tours designed for both young and old and somewhere in between!

Next, check out the Forest Heritage Center Museum and learn all about Smoky Bear and his creator.

Then take a walk on the wild side and visit the Beavers Bend Nature Center where you can pet a hawk and watch owl and snake feedings up close and personal.

Take a leisurely stroll next door to the Beavers Bend Restaurant and have lunch on the deck overlooking the Mountain Fork River.

After lunch, take a train ride and learn about the romantic legend of Beavers Bend.

Now that your lunch is settled, take a brisk stroll on any of the Beavers Bend hiking trails and see nature at its majestic best.

Finally, cool off and relax at the Beavers Bend Swim Beach.

Begin your day by taking a tour of the antebellum style house built in 1884 for Jefferson Gardner, a former Chief of the Choctaw Nation. For the next step of your trip, be sure and pick up a list of Choctaw-Chickasaw Trail of Tears markers while at the mansion. Dr. Stiles, owner of the mansion, erected these markers and can tell you all about them and how to find them.

Next, check out the large selection of Indian pottery and artifacts at the Indian Memorial Museum.

Enjoy a nice lunch break at David Beard’s Catfish, Seafood & Steaks. Be sure and try an appetizer of fried pickles!

Come see our ferocious Acrocanthosaurus at the Museum of the Red River and pick up a souvenir to show you saw the most complete dinosaur skeleton ever excavated.

Step back in time and see how advanced the ancient Choctaw ancestors were when it came to education among the tribes at Wheelock Academy.

Wheelock Church has been fully restored to its original glory. Admire the architecture of the old rock building.

A day of Golf!

The Cedar Creek Golf Course is located on Hwy 259 north about 12 miles from Broken Bow. Turn on Golf Course Road. Then after a round of golf take Hwy 259 south to the Idabel Country Club on East Lincoln Road. Have lunch at the clubhouse and then hit the links.
